Gail's Journal ([info]drturner) wrote,

Start of the next phase

Finally we are at the end of the exhaustive rounds of testing, poking, prodding, and cutting. Gail is now ready for the chemo.
She had her port installed in her chest last Monday. After which she went to the Oncologist last Thursday and chemotherapy begins on Tuesday the 27th , September and so we progress into the next phase that will last for the next four months, if all goes well.
Gail’s having good and bad days, it’s heavy on her mind, but if anyone can turn lemons into lemonade she can.
It’s so hard for her, having NOT been sick, missing the career she loved, and the amazing life, now she has to adjust to this “home arrest” (that’s what she calls chemo) I’ll be there with her all the way, holding the bucket! Keep emailing her, she still needs the support – even more so, as this has slowly eroded her belief system a little, it’s a tough one, and she can’t wait until it’s over. (Or maybe it’s just the anticipation of the chemo - that’s enough to gag anyone)
We miss you all, and thank you again for all your journal entries and support; it’s invaluable to Gail’s psyche.
Love, Daryl. xxxxxx

Last lap

Dear Gail and Daryl, I will be thinking of you Tuesday and wishing you the best. After the four months have passed you can kick your heels up again and put this behind you. You really have faced this demon with courage and I think it has been inspiring to all your friends. I will call you when we return from our trip the very beginning of Oct. Love to all of you, Tina

Love from Grace and Ben XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Hi Gail, I will be thinking of you on Tuesday and send you all my love and prayers.

I made an offer of a few pics of the Bay for your fridge and now each day as I drive to work I anguish over which scene would bring a smile to your face? the one with the huge green striped hot air balloon rising over the green paddocks with the tall poplars in rows lit by the early morning sun, or the one of blue of the mountain range as a back drop to the pink of the blossoming fruit trees. Yup I guess I will have to just catch them all for you

ok Mucho love O Grace

Hi Gail and Daryl!

We just got back from our little trip
around (part) of the Eastland Region.

I was anxious to see if there was any new entry.
Well, here we go along with you guys for the four
months Chemo.
Hang in there Gail, 4 months will be here and gone
before I could lose 2 lbs.
We had a Seafood Platter a couple of nights ago,I
swear I have never seen so many different seafood
in front of me before. And the salad was to die for.

Gail! we will be with you all the way.
Keep positive thoughts.
Our prayers are with you.

All our love.

Bob and Elva.

Gail,

I'm so glad that you are finally ready for Chemo so that you can get well. With the "house arrest", Daryl makes it sound like you can't come and Bean with us!! Is there no way? I think that everyone would love it, even if you had to come in Jammies!

If or if not, I hope that you have piles of books, magazines and videos that will entertain you - in addition to Daryl's entertainment talents, of course. Playing on the Internet can also be big fun, so I hope you are trying that, too. After this week, the weather should be much nicer, and maybe you will enjoy lounging in your gorgeous back yard.

Thinking of you,
Cindy J.

My thoughts and prayers are with you

Gail,

I'm a friend of Anushka's and I haven't met you before, but I have heard so many wonderful things about you.

You are such an amazingly strong woman. No one should have to go through what you are going through. Keep positive though; you are doing wonderfully. I will be thinking of you as you go through your chemo and the rest of the steps for treatment.

Take care,
Larissa

ON THE ROAD HOME

"Home Arrest???????? and you didn't do anything wrong, it is so unfair but we are all given some hurdles in life and I know you will win this race. It is such a shame you are so far away but we are thinking of you always and if I could come and hold the bucket for you I would. Daryl hang on in there - it is takes just as much effort for you as it does for the patient and you feel as much pain.
Love reading the journals, it is such a wonderful idea.

Love to you both
Gael & Chris

You are in my prayers!

Few of us who have professed to have lived life, can equally declare that no pain has entered our lives. Appearing in many forms, pain can be as unifying as it is dividing. I have come to believe that those who have been asked to carry the burden of relentless pain, receive blessings beyond those who are not asked.

Defined as uniquely as it is experienced, the unification of pain is born out of acceptance of the condition. Thus, growth from the experience of pain, in whatever form it materializes in our lives, can be achieved only through the acceptance of its presence, and the perseverance through its unknown test.

For those who suffer from chronic pain, and those who live with the hardship of witnessing this form of pain in someone dearest your heart, fear not to ask, for He who has created all beings, already knows your needs.

In my prayers

Hi Gail
I just wanted you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers every day. I know that you are going through an incredibly difficult time and there may be times you feel like giving up. Stay strong and and try to keep a positive attitude, it makes all the difference in the world! Keep in mind how many people love you and are praying for you every single day that passes. I hardly know you, but from talking to you one night, I know that you are truly an amazing woman and you are going to pull through this! Be well and take care of yourself. Please call anytime if you should need anything or just someone to talk to.

One Down!

I thought of you all day today and sure hope your first treatment was kind to you. For the time being just consider "Chemo-Trina" (I've named her for you) your best friend. She'll be in your life for only a few months then you'll be able to dissolve the friendship forever!!!

Sleep well tonight and feel good tomorrow.

In love and friendship,

Louann
